Pagasa lifts ”Butchoy” tropical cyclone warning signals
June 12, 2020
Tropical Depression ''Butchoy'' was located at 140 kilometers west-northwest of Iba, Zambales or 165 kilometers west of Dagupan, the Philippine Atmospheric and Geophysical Atmospheric Services Administration (Pagasa) said Friday
It is moving west-northwest at 25 kilometers per hour with winds of 55 kph and gusts of 70 kilometers per hour. By tomorrow, ''Butchoy'' is expected to be 390 kilometers west of Sinait, Ilocos Sur, Pagasa said.
All tropical cyclone warning signals were lifted by Pagasa even as it expects ''Butchoy'' to intensify into a tropical storm within 24 hours.
''However, occasional gusts associated with the Southwest Monsoon may still be experienced over most of Northern and Central Luzon and the western section of Southern Luzon and Visayas,''said Pagasa.
''Moderate to heavy rains over Zambales, Bataan, Pangasinan, the northern portion of Palawan including Calamian and Cuyo Islands, and Occidental Mindoro. Light to moderate with at times heavy monsoon rains over Metro Manila, Western Visayas, and the rest of Luzon,'' said Pagasa.
''Flooding and rain-induced landslides may occur during heavy or prolonged rainfall especially in areas that are highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards,'' added Pagasa. DMS
