Palace admits 5-minute travel time from Cubao to Makati impossible for now
December 25, 2019
Malacanang admitted on Monday that a five-minute travel time on Edsa from Cubao, Quezon City to Makati City is impossible for now.
In a press briefing, Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said at least this December, Duterte's promise to have a smooth-sailing five-minute travel time could be impossible.
"For December, let us forget it; unless you want to ride on a chopper," he said.
Duterte promised five-minute travel time from Cubao to Makati when he was campaigning for the ruling PDP-Laban senatorial candidates in 2018. He reiterated his promise last June.
In a radio interview on Sunday, Panelo said Filipinos should not lose hope that the Duterte administration could address the traffic congestion in Metro Manila, particularly along Edsa, which could be considered as the busiest thoroughfare in the country, before he steps down from office in 2022.
