Palace agrees with PNP’s big revamp
October 21, 2019
Malacanang on Monday said President Rodrigo Duterte agreed with the revamp by the Philippine National Police ( PNP).
In a press briefing, Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said the big revamp is good for the organization.
“He (Duterte) agreed (and) that’s good for the PNP,” Panelo said.
“Any revamp will always be good for an organization after a while,” he added.
Twenty-one positions in the PNP were affected by the revamp announced on Sunday.
However, Panelo said Duterte did not mention why he agreed with the revamp.
In a separate briefing, PNP’s officer-in-charge Police Lieutenant General Archie Francisco Gamboa the revamp was discussed during their last command conference with Duterte.
“All leaders must take full responsibility in the entire implementation process of all our law enforcement campaigns. In relation to this, I have ordered the massive revamp beginning at the National Headquarters down to the Regional levels,” Gamboa said.
Gamboa added all key positions are under probation for three months and all promotions will be on hold.
“We expect fresh ideas, fresh enthusiasm and fresh resolve from commanders at all levels to carry their share of weight in our campaign against illegal drugs and internal cleansing... Each one will strictly be held accountable for what his or her unit does or fails to do,” he said.
“Beginning Monday, and I will make sure the ax will fall where it should if these leaders will not deliver results,” he added. Ella Dionisio/DMS
