Malacanang assured on Tuesday that assistance is underway for those affected by a powerful earthquake that rocked Masbate province.
A magnitude 6.6 earthquake hit Tuesday morning Masbate, leaving one dead and 36 others injured, according to the Philippine Red Cross.
"When it comes to assistance, don't worry, the food, blankets, resettlement areas, all of them have been prepositioned," said Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque in a press briefing.
He said the concerned government agencies have been used to this kind of disaster.
Asked if President Rodrigo Duterte will visit Masbate, Roque said the Chief Executive surely wanted to go there.
"Instinctively, the President wants to fly to Masbate. But whether or not he will be allowed (by the Presidential Security Group), let's see," he said. Celerina Monte/DMS
