Malacanang assured on Monday authorities would look into killings of drug suspects in Manila allegedly by policemen, which were captured by cameras in the area.
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said the concerned agencies have to authenticate the security camera containing footage of how police allegedly shot and injured three men on October 11 in a village in Tondo.
"I assure you that the president will not tolerate any abuses that may be committed by some personnel of the PNP (Philippine National Police). Again, the Palace position is we do not tolerate police violence, brutality or killing. And, of course, the latest pronouncement in this regard is still the Arnaiz case as well as the Kian case that the president will not tolerate murders being committed by the PNP," he said.
He was referring to the cases of teenagers Angelo Arnaiz and Kian delos Santos who were killed allegedly by Caloocan police.
Roque also urged lawyers to help in collecting evidence against rogue policemen involved in the killings.
He said it was not enough complaints against policemen were just reported on the media.
"That's why I'm encouraging the lawyers, help in the process of collecting evidence because if no one would file a complaint, how can we investigate and how could we enforce punishment?," Roque said. Celerina Monte/DMS
