Palace extends condolences to Vietnam after President Quang’s death

Malacanang on Sunday expressed its deepest condolences to the government and people of Vietnam following the death of President Tran Dai Quang.
Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said in a statement that President Rodrigo Roa Duterte “recalls with fondness the warmth and the hospitality extended by President Quang during his first official visit to Vietnam in 2016 and Vietnam’s hosting of the APEC Summit in 2017.”
“Our prayers and thoughts are with the family and the Vietnamese people,” he added.
According to Vietnam’s government website, Quang passed away in a military hospital due to a serious illness. He was 61.
Quang was elected State President at the 11th session of the 13th National Assembly on April 2, 2016.
