Palace happy that Maza can now go back to work

Malacañang said on Tuesday it is grateful that National Anti-Poverty Commission head Liza Maza can return to her work.
This was after the Palayan City Regional Trial Court dismissed the double murder charges against Maza, former Agrarian Reform Secretary Rafael Mariano and former Bayan Muna party-list Reps. Saturnino Ocampo and Teddy Casiño and quashed their warrants of arrest.
"The legal system is working," said Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque in a press briefing.
"We're happy that Secretary Maza can come back to work. Now that she has no standing warrant of arrest, I supposed she can go back to work," he added.
Maza and the three other left-leaning former officials went into hiding after Judge Evelyn Turla of the Palayan City RTC issued the warrants of arrest against the four on July 11 for their alleged involvement on the death of two Akbayan members in 2003 and 2004, respectively.
The four denied any involvement in the double murder cases.
They filed a motion for consideration, which was granted by Acting Presiding Judge Trese D. Wenceslao of the Palayan City RTC. Turla inhibited from further handling the cases against Maza and three others. Celerina Monte/DMS
