Palace: Nothing to hide over gov’t spending for COVID-19 response
July 30, 2020
Malacañang said on Thursday there is nothing to hide over the government's disbursement of fund for coronavirus disease response.
In a virtual press briefing, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said the Palace also welcomes a Senate resolution seeking a special audit of government expenses, loans and donations made under Republic Act No. 11469, otherwise known as the Bayanihan to Heal As One Act.
"The President and Malacañang have nothing to hide. All the expenses, all the money that was spent for COVID-19 went to government's COVID-19 response," he said.
"We welcome the special audit, noting that COA (Commission on Audit) will really audit it because COA is doing the post-audit (of government's expenditures)," Roque added.
National Task Force Against COVID-19 Chief Implementer Carlito Galvez Jr. also assured that there was nothing irregular on the government's disbursement of fund for COVID-19 response.
Roque said he would come up with a presentation in the next press briefing on all the government's expenses for COVID-19 response.
Seven senators have signed a resolution calling for the audit of the Duterte administration's spending.
