Palace on Alejano’s ‘misinformation’ about Duterte’s health: In aid of election
August 26, 2018
Malacanang slammed on Sunday Magdalo party-list Rep. Gary Alejano for saying that Pres. Rodrigo Duterte was "very ill."
In a statement, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said that Alejano's attack on Duterte's health was in aid of the upcoming midterm elections in 2019.
"The President has no serious illness," he said, citing Duterte's attendance in various events during the past days.
"The President has always been forthright about his condition. What he is experiencing is typical of people of his age," he said.
"Magdalo Rep. Gary Alejano’s misinformation is certainly in aid of election. We hope the people will judge him accordingly," he added.
Alejano, in a forum on Saturday, said he was informed by a person close to Duterte that he was not in the pink of health.
“I believe in the information given to us by this person who has access to the President,” said Alejano.
However, he refused to go into details on what was the supposed illness of the President as he urged Malacanang to be transparent regarding his health.
“What we want is that everytime he undergoes a medical checkup, his bulletin should be released to the public,” said Alejano. Ella Dionisio/DMS
