Palace on label of Chinese beauty product listing Manila as “Province of China”: Nonsense
August 20, 2020
Malacanang called on Thursday as "nonsense" the printing of Manila as a "Province of China" on the label of a Chinese beauty product allegedly being sold in Binondo.
"That's nonsense. That should be ignored because no one will believe that we are a province of China," said Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque in a televised press briefing when asked about the Palace's statement regarding a Chinese beauty product with an address in Manila, Province of China.
He said all the Filipinos love the country.
"We are proud to be Filipinos and we will never allow to be subjugated by any foreign body," Roque stressed.
PBA party-list Representative Jericho Nograles has urged the government to blacklist the product.
Roque said it would be up to the Philippine Food and Drug Administration to decide on whether or not to ban the product in the country.
"There are criteria for blacklisting. I think one of those is if there's threat on the health if to use this product. So let’s allow the FDA to exercise their exclusive jurisdiction when it comes to that matter," he added. Celerina Monte/DMS
