Palace welcomes Duque’s confirmation as DOH chief
February 7, 2018
Malacanang expressed belief on Wednesday there will be better health services for the Filipinos following the confirmation of Francisco Duque III as Health secretary by the Commission on Appointments.
In a statement, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque welcomed Duque's confirmation.
"We are confident that Secretary Duque would be able to deliver better health programs and services as the DOH (Department of Health) once again aims to regain the trust of our people through integrity, professionalism and good governance," he said.
Duque's confirmation amid the controversies hounding DOH, such as the multi-billion procurement of anti-dengue vaccination Dengvaxia.
The dengue vaccination program started during the Aquino administration.
Duque first held the DOH portfolio during the administration of former president and now Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. Celerina Monte/DMS
