Palace wishes luck for bar examinees

Malacañang on Sunday wished bar candidates good luck on the first Sunday of the 2019 Bar Examinations.

In a statement, Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo welcomed the first of four Sundays of the examination. He said more than 8,000 will take part in series of tests to become lawyers.

"We offer our sincere prayers to our legal aspirants who toiled day and night poring over law books, court decisions, and jurisprudence in preparation for this life-changing moment," Panelo said.

"To our bar candidates, good luck as we wish you all the best. Believe in yourselves and give your best shot. Make your family, school, and community proud," he added.

Last year about 1,800 out of 8,158 examinees passed the bar exams. It had a passing rate of 22.07 percent.

Among top five performing universities in the 2018 bar exams were Ateneo de Manila University, University of the Philippines, University of San Carlos, University of Asia and the Pacific School of Law, and Ateneo de Davao University.

The highest number of bar passers was recorded in 2016 when 3,747 out of 6,344 or about 59.06 percent passed. Cristina Eloisa Baclig/DMS
