September 18, 2017

National Capital Region Police Director Oscar Albayalde said Monday a police community precinct in Pasay City has been relieved following a complaint by a robbery-holdup victim that policemen did not return cash and valuables.

Albayalde told GMA 7's Unang Balita program relieved were 35 personnel and three of its commanders  in Police Community Precinct 3.

"We are investigating a complaint there that they recovered money in a robbery-holdup incident and we are looking at the allegation that they took the money", he said. Albayalde did not say the amount of money involved.

The incident happened on August  8 and the victim, whose name is withheld, reported this to PCP 3.The police reportedly did not return the cash and valuables, forcing the victim to report the incident to the Southern Police District.

This is the second action done by Albayalde. He ordered the relief of all the police personnel in Caloocan city last Friday following a search  of a private residence done by policemen without a warrant. The Caloocan police had been under the spotlight due to the deaths of 17-year old Kian Delos Santos and Carl Angelo Arnaiz,19 who was allegedly shot by police officers.

Alabayalde said the relived police officers were put under restrictive custody to prevent them from being absent without official leave (AWOL) .

"The restrictive custody is just a way so that these people won't (go) AWOL and if they are needed to face their cases then they will be able to go", he said.

Albayalde said police officers will face administrative charges which can cause their dismissal from the service if there is strong  evidences against them even if they are relieved from their post. Alanna Ambi/DMS
