PCG evacuates Filipino oiler from foreign bulk carrier

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) evacuated a 50- year old Filipino oiler of a foreign bulk carrier off the waters of Zamboanga City on Tuesday.
MV Konkar Venture was at the vicinity of waters 2.2 nautical miles southeast off Sta. Cruz Island, Zamboanga City when the PCG conducted the medical evacuation to aid the Filipino seafarer.
According to the PCG, the Filipino seafarer from Cebu City accidentally fell while climbing the stairs inside the engine room.
"Upon receipt of the report, personnel of the PCG District – Southwestern Mindanao coordinated with BRP Malamawi (FPB-2403) to conduct the operation and assist in the transport of the Filipino seafarer," said PCG.
The Filipino seafarer was brought to the nearest hospital for medical treatment. Robina Asido/DMS
