PCG joins LGUs in inspecting Aklan ports as Boracay reopens

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) joined the local government unit (LGU) in inspecting Aklan ports as the Boracay Island reopens this month.
According to PCG, the ports of entry and exit in Malay, Aklan was inspected by authorities on Monday.
The PCG personnel stationed in Aklan "conducts 24/7 foot and seaborne patrol in the vicinity waters of the Boracay Island to ensure maritime safety and maritime security, as well as the strict implementation of health protocols against the threat of COVID-19 in the province."
The PCG are also helping the local government units and the Philippine National Police (PNP) on the implementation of guidelines and health protocols set by Mayor Floribar Bautista to uphold public health and safety amid modified general community quarantine in the municipality of Malay.
Under the guidelines, swimming will only be allowed from 6 am to 6pm and the mandatory wearing of face masks and observance of social distancing must be strictly followed.
Swimmers who will be subjected to temperature checking were required to register their names, addresses, and contact numbers before they will be allowed at the beach. Robina Asido/DMS
