PCG personnel shot dead inside home in Manila

A Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) personnel was shot inside his home in Manila on Tuesday morning.
The PCG identified the victim as Seaman Second Class (SN2) Muktar Tahajid.
Based on initial report, the shooting occurred around 7 am.
"Nearby residents shared they heard four gunshots following the death of SN2 Tahajid in his residence located at Block 5, Barangay 650, Zone 68, District 5, Port Area this morning," said PCG.
"His body was transferred to the mosque in the vicinity while the Coast Guard Intelligence Force (CGIF), Philippine National Police – Scene of the Crime Operatives (PNP – SOCO), and Manila Police District (MPD) conduct joint investigation," it added.
The remains of Tahajid will be transported to Zamboanga within the day "through the sweeper flight organized by OWWA (Overseas Workers Welfare Administration) for returning overseas Filipinos so his bereaved family may conduct immediate burial (within 24 hours after death) in observance of their Muslim belief or tradition,'' said PCG.
