PCOO official refuses to apologize over video dragging ex-Senator Aquino on Duterte’s controversial kiss

June 6, 2018

Contrary to the statement of Special Assistant to the President Christopher "Bong" Go, Presidential Communications Operations Office Assistant Secretary Margaux "Mocha" Uson refused on Wednesday to apologize over the video she posted on her Facebook page dragging the late Senator Benigno Aquino Jr. into the kissing controversy involving President Rodrigo Duterte.

In a media conference he called at the Presidential Guest House on Wednesday afternoon, Go said he and Duterte have apologized to actress Kris Aquino for Uson's action.

He said that Uson, after he talked to her, promised to issue an apology.

"She (Uson) will also apologize," Go said.

But in a video and message posts she made on her FB page, Uson said, "This is not about Kris Aquino. This is about putting malice in a kiss which the other leaders did, like her father."

"With all due respect to everyone involved, I decline to apologize for the truth," she said.

Kris, the youngest daughter of Aquino and late President Corazon Aquino, slammed Mocha for coming out with a video showing her late father being kissed on the lips by one of his supporters before going out of the plane that flew him back to Manila in August 1983. When he came out of the plane, Aquino was assassinated.

Uson posted the video on her FB page after Duterte received criticisms for kissing on the lips a Filipina in South Korea during his meeting with the Filipino community on Sunday.

Duterte has said it was his style and there was no malice in that kiss.

Uson is Duterte's staunch supporter even when he was still campaigning for the presidency. Celerina Monte/DMS
