PDEA arrest three, seize total of P6 million worth of shabu in Laguna

June 4, 2020

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Wednesday raided a shabu laboratory in Sta. Rosa City,  Laguna maintained by a Chinese, who was set free by the Court of Appeals two years ago.

PDEA Director General Wilkins Villanueva said Samson Tan,  convicted for illegal drugs, was released from the New Bilibid Prison in 2018 after the Court of Appeals granted his appeal.

“Samson is one of the big sources of shabu in the Philipppines,'' said Villanueva in an interview over dzBB.

Tan and cohorts Yusuf Sultan and Dexter Abdala were arrested in a buy-bust at a parking lot of a fastfood restaurant in Barangay Don Jose at around 9 am.

Seized from them were at least 500 grams of shabu worth P3.4 million.

Anti-drug officers raided Tan's house, said to be a converted  shabu laboratory, at Laguna Bel Air subdivision past 3 p.m.

At least 440 grams of shabu worth P3 million and equipment for manufacturing illegal drugs were recovered at Tan's house.

Villanueva said Tan's arrest was the product of a three-month surveillance.

Villanueva said Tan, a chemist for an international drug syndicate,  was arrested during a sting in Manila  in 2008 and convicted in 2013. DMS
