Chief Justice Diosdado Peralta on Friday extolled the frontliners in the war against novel coronavirus pandemic on the country's 122nd Independence Day.
In his message, Peralta said the country should honor the courage by frontliners whom he considered as new heroes for having the courage to put up the fight, even to the extent of risking their lives, against COVID-19 pandemic.
Peralta also urged Filipinos to practice "bayanihan" and to show concern for others in the time of crisis.
"Tayo ay magkaisa upang mapagtagumpayan ang laban sa gitna ng mga hamon tungo sa isang malayang pamumuhay at malusog na sambayanan," he said.
On the part of the Supreme Court, Peralta mentioned the efforts of the judiciary to continue its service, including videoconferencing hearings, online filing of cases and posting of bail, and the release of qualified detainees. He said lines of communication to the courts remain open. DMS
