Peso hits intraday high of P48.025, closes at P48.05:$1

The Philippine peso hit an intraday four-year high of P48.025 against the US dollar before ending at P48.05 on Wednesday.
This was unchanged from Tuesday. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $742.45 million from Tuesday's $722.6 million.
The Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) rose 71.06 points to end at 7,080.25.
In the broader market, there were 116 losers, 108 gainers and 39 unchanged.
Volume reached 3.9 billion shares worth P8.8 billion from Tuesday's 4.03 billion shares valued at P10.89 billion.
Most active shares were led by Metrobank, up P1.40 to P49.20; BPI, down 10 centavos to P80 and Ayala Land, up 75 centavos to P40.50. DMS
