August 11, 2020

The Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) does not need a P2.1 billion infotech system to weed out corruption, the Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) told a Senate hearing Tuedsay.

''PhilHealth doesn't need a P2.1 billion IT system'' said Commissioner Greco Belgica.

Belgica said there have been previous investments in IT but the corruption at PhilHealth continues.

The magnitude of corruption at Philhealth is severe, said Belgica. He said P2 billion to P 3 billion released by Philhealth is exposed to corruption.

''It is virtually top to bottom'' said Belgica. Belgica suggested appointing officers-in-charge to run key divisions, fixing the IT infrastructure and the legal system.

Belgica said the commission has ''a long list of persons under investigation under PhilHeath.'' DMS
