PhilHealth pays P500M to Red Cross
October 28, 2020
The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation has paid half of its debt to Philippine National Red Cross, Malacanang said on Tuesday.
"This confirms that PhilHealth paid P500 million today to PNRC," Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a text message to reporters.
He said Red Cross staff received the check from the state health insurer past 5pm.
The Red Cross has stopped swabbing and testing for coronavirus disease of returning overseas Filipino workers and other individuals covered by PhilHealth for about two weeks already after the latter failed to pay its debt, which ballooned to over P930 million already. Celerina Monte/DMS
