PhilHealth says top officials ordered to hand in courtesy resignations
October 2, 2020
The Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) said Friday its top officials have been ordered to resign by its President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dante Gierran.
In a phone interview, PhilHealth Spokesman Rey Baleña said Gierran has ordered the mass courtesy resignation of officials holding Salary Grade 26 and above.
"The memorandum of P/CEO Gierran re: submission of courtesy resignation of officials holding SG 26 and above was in compliance to a PhilHealth Board Resolution in 2019," said Baleña.
There are a total of 66 PhilHealth executives within SG 26 and up, although some are merely on OIC (officer-in-charge) capacity.
Baleña said the board resolution was not implemented by former PhilHealth head Ricardo Morales last year.
Morales had refused to implement the resolution as he believed that "it would be too disruptive to the Corporation". DMS
