Philippine envoy to Kuwait returns

Philippine Ambassador to Kuwait Renato Pedro Villa returned to the country on Wednesday night after being expelled by the Kuwaiti government after a video where a rescue of allegedly distressed Filipino domestic helpers went viral on social media.
Villa was welcomed by Foreign Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport [NAIA] terminal 1 before midnight on board Philippine Airlines flight PR 699 from Kuwait.
Villa said he has done appropriate action to save a Filipina domestic helper from an employer.
Cayetano said rescue operations were coordinated with Kuwaiti authorities.
Cayetano apologized to the Kuwaiti government, saying the country's actions were done “in the spirit of emergency to protect Filipina domestic helper.
President Rodrigo Duterte canceled the deployment of Filipino workers to Kuwait in February following the discovery of the body of a Filipina inside the freezer of an abandoned apartment. DMS
