The Philippine government on Tuesday said it is doing everything it can to seek the release seven Filipino sailors of a Swiss merchant vessel seized by gunmen in Nigeria over the weekend.
Diplomats from the Philippine embassies in Nigeria and Switzerland are in touch with authorities in Abuja and Berne to find where the seven Filipino crew members of the MV Glarus are being held, the Department of Foreign Affairs said.
The seven were among 12 of 19 crew members who were reported abducted by armed men as it traveled from Lagos to Port Harcourt. A total of 12 Filipino crewmen were on the ship. DMS
