June 9, 2018
A Skyjet plane overshot the runway in Busuanga Airport in Coron, Palawan Friday afternoon.
Airport authorities said a team of police aviation security, firefighters from the Civil Aeronautics Authority of the Philippines and Philippine Marines proceeded to the runway to assist the plane's 80 passengers at the emergency exit.
The passengers were unharmed, officials said.
The Skyjet plane was piloted by Captain Owen Rosales, who had a minor injury, and Captain Vicente dela Cruz, the co-pilot.
Air traffic controller Neil Mabuhay said "bad weather" caused the plane to overshoot the runway.
Busuanga airport is temporarily closed until the disabled plane is removed, officials said. DMS
