PNP announces appointments in six posts

The Philippine National Police- Headquarters Support Service (PNP-HSS) has a new director effective Wednesday in its latest round of appointments.

In a statement, Police Lieutenant General Archie Francisco Gamboa-- the PNP officer-in-charge-- designated Police Brigadier General Manuel Abu as the new director of PNP-HSS.

Abu was deputy director of the PNP Special Action Force and former executive officer of the PNP Directorate for Police Community Relations. 

Under his watch, Abu will lead the HSS to implement policies, rules and regulations governing the daily activities inside Camp Crame, providing an environment that is conducive to the efficient and effective pursuance of the PNP mission and functions.

Abu is a member of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Makatao Class of 1989.

Police Brigadier General Elmedio Tagra of the PNP Directorate for Intelligence has been designated as the deputy director of the Civil Security Group. 

Other senior officials who will assume new posts effective today were Police Colonel Benjamin Acorda, acting executive officer, Directorate for Intelligence; Police Colonel Luisito Magnaye, acting deputy director, PNP Special Action Force; Police Colonel Rommel Francisco Marbil, chief of staff, Civil Security Group; and Police Colonel Ronaldo Cabral, acting deputy Regional Director for Operation, Police Regional Office 10.

Police Colonel Ferdinand Sifuentes is the acting deputy regional director for Administration, PRO 10 effective December 17. 

According to Gamboa, the latest round of reorganization shows the continuing reform in the command structure of the 195,000-strong police force. Ella Dionisio/DMS
