Philippine National Police (PNP) chief General Archie Francisco Gamboa on Wednesday is confident he will be vindicated from charges filed by former Biliran Rep. Glenn Chong for allegedly concealing of evidence in the murder case of the ex-lawmaker's driver, Richard Santillan.
Chong and Santillan's widow, Jeanette, filed charges of grave misconduct and administrative complaints against Gamboa before the Office of the Ombudsman on Tuesday.
“I will face my accusers confident that the truth will vindicate me,” Gamboa said in a statement.
The complainants claim Gamboa, then the PNP's deputy chief for administration, tampered with evidence gathered during the course of the investigation on Santillan's murder in 2018. Also killed was Gessamyn Casing, Santillan's companion.
Among these allegations is that Gamboa concealed crime scene photographs.
'”As a lawyer, I fully recognize the supremacy of the courts and will abide by and submit to the judicial process.” he said.
Gamboa, who will retire on Sept. 1, said this is part of the risks that come with his job. DMS
