PNP chief ends self-quarantine, visits NCRPO

April 15, 2020

After finishing his 14 day self-quarantine, the chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) visited the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Wednesday to check the status of its personnel and inspect the Special Care Facilities inside Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City.

According to NCRPO, Police General Archie Francisco Gamboa lauded the facilities inside the camp that were built to house cops who are suspected and positive on coronavirus disease (COVID-19) to contain the virus and protect their families.

“NCRPO commits to exert ceaseless efforts to halt the spread of the virus and make Metro Manila free from its threats,” said Police Major General Debold Sinas, the NCRPO director.

Based on their data, NCRPO has 11 police personnel positive on COVID-19.

The two recent cases were cops assigned in Manila and Quezon City.

“Patient 10 was recently confined at Hope Facility and is in stable condition while Patient 11 has an improved condition but still with evidence of pneumonia in his latest X-ray,” Sinas said.

The NCRPO chief said both patients are accommodated at NCRPO's Special Care Facilities before they were tested and their results yielded positive.

"In our Special Care Facilities (SCF), our personnel are monitored and attended with their special needs. We provide them with the necessary healthcare interventions for monitoring and recovery," he said.

Sinas ordered all personnel who might have direct contact with the patients to report to their respective District Health Service for evaluation and possible accommodation at the SCF for monitoring.

"Right now, we are conducting contact tracing, and we are also coordinating with the respective City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit  for the conduct swabbing on our personnel with direct contact with our positive patients,” he said.

"With the extended implementation of Enhanced Community Quarantine, the exposure of our frontliners to the virus is also extended,'' he said.

''Therefore, Team NCRPO vows to provide them with ample supply of personal protective equipment, food, vitamins and alcohol on a regular basis. On the other hand, we also guarantee that our patients are given appropriate health assistance because at the end of the day, our personnel's health is our wealth," he added. Ella Dionisio/DMS
