PNP chief negative for COVID-19: spokesman
April 1, 2020
Philippine National Police(PNP) chief General Archie Francisco Gamboa was tested negative for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), according to a spokesman on Wednesday.
In a text message to The Daily Manila Shimbun, Police Brigadier General Bernard Banac said Gamboa's result is negative.
“He is on duty, up and running the entire affairs of the PNP amid the enhanced community quarantine. He remains healthy but adapting strict bio-safety measures,” Banac said.
The PNP spokesperson said Gamboa had no meetings with Interior Secretary Eduardo Año lately.
Año last Tuesday night announced that he was tested positive on the virus following meeting with at least four government officials who were also tested COVID-19 positive, including Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief of staff Felimon Santos Jr.
Last month, it was reported that Gamboa was allegedly included in the list of government officials who were tested by the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) for COVID-19 infection. Ella Dionisio/DMS
