PNP presents four cops arrested for extortion

Four policemen who were arrested for extortion were presented by the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Wednesday. In a press briefing in Camp Crame, PNP-Counter-Intelligence Task Force head  Senior Superintendent Jose Chiquito Malayo presented four Makati policemen who ware arrested in an entrapment operation in Pasay City around 11 pm Tuesday. The four were identified as PO2 Harley Garcera, PO2 Clarence Maynes, PO1 Tim Santos and PO1 Jeffrey Caniete. The entrapment operation was conducted following complaints against them. Based on a report, the suspects took the complainants from their bike shop last Monday along Kalayaan Road, Merville, East Service Road, Pasay City They reportedly demanded P400,000 from the victims whom they released after the payment of P100,000. The balance will be paid the following day or else their family will  be killed. After the arrest, the four policemen were detained in task force headquarters for the filing of criminal and administrative cases. Chief Supt. Rene Aspera, chief of Directorate for Personnel and Records Management, also announced the relief of Makati City police chief Senior Supt. Dionisio Bartolome and Chief Inspector Oscar Pagulayan, head of the Intelligence Division of Makati City Police as ordered by PNP Director General Ronald Dela Rosa. Another policeman was arrested in an entrapment operation in San Andres Bukid, Manila around 5:15 pm Tuesday. The suspect, identified as PO1 Efren Guitering and assigned at Manila Police Station 6,  was reportedly asking for P50,000 from the complainant so a case will be not be filed against him after he was arrested for alleged possession of illegal drugs about 3 am Tuesday.
