The Philippine National Police (PNP) has relieved 13 policemen for various offenses. In a news conference in Baguio, PNP Director General Oscar Albayalde relieved 1policemen of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Galas Station 11 accused of extorting money from people they arrested in violation of the election gun ban. “All of them have been relieved. I talked with the regional director and he relieved everyone involved including the commander,” Albayalde said. Removed were Chief Inspector Erwin Guevarra, head of Station 11's drug enforcement unit and nine of his personnel Station 11 chief Superintendent Igmedio Bernaldez. Two police officers were also relieved for being caught moonlighting as drivers of colorum vehicles. Albayalde ordered the relief of Chief Inspector Juan Cipriano Jr. of the Southern Police District and Senior Police Officer 4 Ronnie Druja of the Aviation Security Group. "What is bad about this is that they are driving colorum vehicles. The president ordered authorities to go after colorum vehicles," said Albayalde. The police officers were reassigned at the PNP Police Holding and Accounting Unit and will be investigated by the Counter-Intelligence Task Force. A report from the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) said the officers were caught last April 26 while driving colorum vehicles in Pasay City. The policemen were identified through their uniforms. “They pick up passengers from Imus, Cavite UV terminal going to SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City, charging P50 per head,” the LTFRB said. DMS
