PNP reports 39 new COVID-19 cases

The Philippine National Police (PNP) said they recorded additional 39 new cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) bringing their total to 179.
According to the PNP Health Service, among the 179 PNP confirmed COVID-19 cases, 57 have since recovered, four earlier succumbed while 118 are undergoing supportive healthcare by PNP doctors.
The PNP Health Service said the remaining 118 active cases are undergoing strict observation and medical attention of which 91 are in quarantine facilities, six are admitted in hospitals, while 21 are home quarantined with support and observation.
It said they have ramped-up mass testing among their police frontliners that’s why they are expecting the number of confirmed cases to rise in the next few days due to pending results of some confirmatory tests.
"We are also keeping tabs of 638 PNP personnel categorized as Probable Persons Under Investigation (Probable PUIs) while a total 390 personnel were recommended as Suspected Persons Under Investigation (Suspected PUIs)," PNPHS noted in its report.
At present, a total of 1,681 PNP personnel, composed of 805 Probable PUIs, 863 Suspected PUIs, and 13 confirmed positive patients have completed self or home quarantine under strict monitoring and medical observation as of May 13.
