The chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Wednesday said cops who manning the quarantine facilities will need to rest for 14 days and undergo testing before they can go back to work.
Police General Archie Francisco Gamboa said these are their strict measures on medical protocol as they manage and operate another quarantine facility in Pasig City.
“It follows strict medical protocols so that they will not get infected… there are certain protocols that every time they go out they have to rest for two weeks and then get tested before they assume back on their turf,” Gamboa said.
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) turned over to the PNP the Philsports Arena with a 132-bed capacity.
Gamboa said this is the second quarantine facility that will be handled by the PNP Health Services under the supervision of the Department of Health (DOH) and Interagency Task Force (IATF).
“It’s an honor for the PNP, especially our frontline police medical and healthcare personnel to be given this vital responsibility to take the lead in putting into action the government's response to this health crisis,” he said.
“With the full support of the national leadership, we are confident we shall be able to accomplish this crucial mission,” he added.
Earlier, the PNP assumed management and operations of the 294-bed quarantine facility at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC). Ella Dionisio/DMS
