PNP says drive vs crime, drugs continues despite controversy
October 2, 2019
Despite the issues surrounding the Philippine National Police ( PNP), their illegal drugs and criminality operations were not affected.
In a press briefing, Police Brigadier General Bernard Banac, the PNP spokesperson, said though some personnel were affected, their operation goes on.
"Our anti-drug operation and law enforcement operation were not affected so the PNP are ongoing. Our people may be affected but on actual performance, it continues," he said.
Banac assured the public the PNP is doing their job in fighting criminality and illegal drugs.
"We will maintain the peace and order in our community," he said.
Banac said there is nothing wrong with the PNP's relationship with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
"The operation is not effected and on-going... The PNP and PDEA is working closely and has a lot of accomplishments," said Banac.
The PNP is facing the issue of "ninja cops" after the chief of PDEA, Director General Aaron Aquino said some police were involved in reselling illegal drugs confiscated during buy-bust operations. Ella Dionisio/DMS
