PNP says info that father of Ateneo bully is a police officer “fake news”
December 25, 2018
Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Oscar Albayalde said the father of a Ateneo de Manila Junior High School student involved in the bullying video was not a police officer.
Albayalde said that report is "fake news".
"We just had an initial contact because there are (news) spreading that the father is a policeman, it's not true that the father of the bully is a policeman," Albayalde said in an ambush interview on Monday.
With regards to all fake accounts under the name of the student, Albaylade said he directed the PNP- Anti-Cybercrime Group to check the accounts.
"There are a lot of accounts and if I'm not mistaken, it is around 75 accounts in social media," he said.
Albayalde said parents should teach their children good manners and right conduct.
"The child has parents and as parents.. we need to teach our children good manners and right conduct. It is saddening that some schools do not have this kind of subject like GMRC (good manners and right conduct, especially respect for elders," he said.
The student involved in the viral video was dismissed by Ateneo last December 23. Ella Dionisio/DMS
