PNP says local officials in narco list cannot have control over police
July 1, 2019
The head of the Philippine National Police ( PNP) on Monday said winning officials in the government's narco list are barred from having operational control on police units and stations under their area.
However, Albayalde said newly-elected officials, especially neophytes are expected to choose their preferred chief of police.
"Their authority to choose among the recommendees is covered by law," he said.
Albayalde said they respect all officials who will decide to change the leadership of their police units.
"We will give them the list (of police officials). If they will not choose the incumbent, then we cannot do anything about it since it's under the law provided the one they choose is qualified," said Albayalde.
"Well to those (included) in the narco list, I dont think they were given the privileged of choosing... In fact, even their privileged of having security (are still removed)," he added. Ella Dionisio/DMS
