PNP says more cops infected by COVID-19 in Central Visayas
June 22, 2020
The chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday said the number of cops infected by the coronavirus disease ( COVID-19) in Central Visayas continues to increase.
In a press briefing, Police General Archie Francisco Gamboa said there are 122 positive cases and even their latest fatalities were recorded in the region.
“Yes I think the last victim came from Cebu and just last week, bringing our casualty to eight,” said Gamboa.
“As a matter of fact the number is increasing, there was one time almost 10 positive (were recorded) coming from Cebu. I think there are 122 positive (cops) in Cebu. There’s so much infection that’s why we are putting up a RT-PCR there,” he added.
The PNP chief said this is why they are rushing to build and accredit a COVID-19 testing facility in the Central Visayas.
Based on their latest data, they have 499 cops infected by COVID-19 where 288 recovered. Ella Dionisio/DMS
