PNP says nothing to worry after couple with alleged terror links killed in Paranaque

The chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday said there is nothing to worry after a financial conduit couple of the Dawlah Islamiyah were killed in an encounter in Paranaque City last week.
“I want to make it clear that the apprehension made last week is the financial conduit so they are handling the finances,” Police General Archie Francisco Gamboa said in a press briefing.
“As I said, let's emphasize that the arrested (suspect) last week (are) financial conduit and (the) operation is entirely another topic. So no need to worry,” he added.
However, Gamboa said the threats of the terrorist group are still present.
“Nothing yet about their operations, offensives in Metro Manila but of course there is always that constant threat from them unless they will not exist anymore. So the threat would always be there. It's just a matter of how serious the threat is,” he said.
Last June 26, four people, including the couple, were killed in an encounter as police served a warrant of arrest in Parañaque City.
The couple were alleged to be a financial conduit of Daesh-East Asia because of their connection with Daulah Islamiyah bomb expert and sub-leader Mundi Sawadjaan alias Abu Marwan.
Gamboa said the two others who were killed were working as security guards. He will ask the PNP- Civil Security Group why alleged terrorist groups were able to work in security agencies. Ella Dionisio/DMS
