September 25, 2019

The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Wednesday sent the third batch of 50 erring cops to Subic to undergo new reformation program.

In a statement, PNP said  the new batch of participants of the program were from Police Regional Offices 1 (Ilocos), 2 (Cagayan Valley), 3 (Central Luzon), and 4A(Calabarzon), National Capital Region Police Office, Intelligence Group, Internal Affairs Service, and Directorate for Intelligence.

Police General Oscar Albayalde said most offenses were administrative and criminal cases, and some have been charged before the Ombudsman for maltreatment and crimes against persons.

“As I have said from the very start of my administration as the PNP Chief, I will not tolerate these erroneous acts of some PNP personnel. I imposed a strict discipline, reform and internal cleansing to this organization. Some of them will be penalized with demotion and suspension,” he said.

Albayalde also added police officers will be divided into squads to be composed of six to eight members.

Under the new internal cleansing program, values reformation is the crux of the 30-day training that tackles moral enhancement, misdemeanor, and other less serious prohibited acts.

“This brainchild of reformation is restorative in nature aiming to promote our desire to completely reform the organization,” said Albayalde. Ella Dionisio/DMS
