September 20, 2017

Philippine National Police Director General Ronald Dela Rosa said Wednesday he is continuously searching for policemen volunteers from Davao,General Santos City and Cotabato  to be assigned in Caloocan City.

"Until now I am still looking for volunteers from Davao who wants to be assigned in Caloocan because it will entail unnecessary expenses on their part because there may be  an economic dislocation", Dela Rosa said in an ambush interview in Camp Crame.

He said Caloocan needs around 1,000 police officers.

National Capital Region Police Director Oscar Albayalde ordered the relief of all Caloocan cops on September 15 following the death of 17-year old Kian Delos Santos and Carl Angelo Arnaiz,19 where Caloocan police were involved. Some Caloocan policemen allegedly conducted an illegal search inside a house of a Caloocan resident and said to stole valuable items.

Albayalde said in a separate press briefing less than 100 police officers from Davao, Special Action Force (SAF) and other regions volunteered to be assigned in Caloocan.

"There are already volunteers but I have to clear it up with the Chief PNP to issue an order for them but the directive of the Chief PNP is strict. All volunteers  that will be assigned in Caloocan they will undergo complete background investigation", he said.

The relieved police officers will undergo retraining, reorientation, ethics and values formation for a minimum of 30 days to 45 days until they can be deployed, said Albayalde.

He said the Human Resource and Doctrine Development at the PNP National Headquarters volunteered to train the relieved officers.

Albayalde said 100 to 200 cops at a time will be retrained.

Albayalde said 417 policemen were placed in Caloocan. The policemen in the five police community precincts out of a total  of seven were replaced. "That is continuous because we get people from other districts", he said. Alanna Ambi/DMS
