Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Ronald Dela Rosa to visit bus terminals in Metro Manila in preparation for the Holy week. “Tomorrow, come with me I will inspect bus stations here in Metro Manila,” he told reporters in Camp Crame Monday. Dela Rosa said the anti-drugs operation of the PNP will continue even during the Holy Week. It can be recalled that the PNP has allocated around 75,000 policemen to ensure safety of travelers on Lenten break. In a text message to the Daily Manila Shimbun, Col. Vic Tomas, AFP Joint Task Force National Capital Region (JTF-NCR), Deputy Commander said the military has allocated more than a hundred soldiers to support the deployment of the PNP in Metro Manila. He said the government troops tasked to support the PNP include security platoons, K9 teams, explosive ordnance disposal units and ambulance or medical teams. Tomas also confirmed no terror threat was monitored in Metro Manila. “None (terror threat monitored) so far and praying that there is none during and beyond the lenten season,” he said. Brig. Gen. Restituto Padilla said the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) remain on white or normal alert. “(Alert level) is still at white. It is still normal at the National Capital Region area commanders have the say elsewhere in the country based on their existing security situation," the military spokesman added. (Robina Asido/DMS)
