PNP to join briefing on distributing cash aid
June 15, 2020
The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Sunday said cops will be participating in a two-day orientation to be headed by Interior Secretary Eduardo Año to prepare for the second tranche of Social Amelioration Program (SAP) distribution.
Police Brigadier General Bernard Banac, PNP spokesperson, said the orientation conducted by the Department of Interior Local Government (DILG) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) will be held Monday and Tuesday.
“This will define and direct the PNP personnel’s role in assisting the DSWD in the management and distribution of cash assistance to qualified beneficiaries as well as the wait listed families,” Banac said.
He said PNP will help in the distribution for the entitled beneficiaries located at the National Capital Region, Region 3 except Aurora, Region 4-A, Benguet, Pangasinan, Iloilo Province, Cebu Province, Bacolod, Davao City, Albay Province, and Zamboanga City.
It can be recalled that President Rodrigo Duterte tapped the PNP and Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to distribute SAP after several complaints were filed about the supposed misuse of these funds by local executives and slow distribution of aid in some areas. Ella Dionisio/DMS
