PNP to seek clarification with PDEA on its role in anti-drug war
December 5, 2017
The Philippine National Police (PNP) said Tuesday it will seek clarification with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) on its role in the anti-drug campaign.
President Rodrigo Duterte brought the police and other government agencies in the war against drugs, presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said.
“We will talk with PDEA first regarding the extent of PNP's operations,” said PNP Director for Operations Camilo Pancratious Cascolan said in a text message.
Chief Superintendent Dionardo Carlos, the PNP spokesman, said they will comply with Duterte's directive.
PDEA Director General Aaron Aquino welcomes the PNP's return in anti-drug operations.
“PDEA welcomes the decision of the president. It has been the desire of PDEA that PNP will return in the fight against illegal drugs,” said Aquino in a statement.
Aquino said they are undermanned and admits they need the support of the PNP and other law enforcement agencies. DMS
