PNP trying to find out if marijuana used as alternative for shabu
November 30, 2020
The chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday said they are investigating if marijuana is being used by drug users as an alternative for shabu.
General Debold Sinas made the statement following the confiscation of P26 million worth of marijuana in a buy-bust operation in Balintawak, Quezon City last Sunday.
Sinas said they are assessing the increase in the demand of marijuana in the National Capital Region (NCR) and nearby provinces.
“We are assessing, determining if this marijuana will be used as an alternative for shabu,” he said.
He said the confiscated illegal drugs allegedly came from the Cordillera.
“We have already interviewed and (made the) assessment with the suspects,” Sinas said.
The operation conducted last Sunday also resulted in the arrest of three alleged drug suspects. Ella Dionisio/DMS
