PNP using available forces to pursue persons behind Jolo twin blasts

The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Tuesday said they are mobilizing all available security forces in pursuit operations against persons responsible for the twin explosions in  in Jolo.

Police General Archie Francisco Gamboa, PNP chief, ordered Bangsamoro regional police director  Brig. General Manuel Abu to intensify conduct of checkpoints, police visibility patrols, and focused intelligence and law enforcement operations in close coordination with the AFP and other members of the security sector.

Last Monday, twin explosions rocked Barangay Walled City which resulted to the death of at least 16 individuals and more than 70 were injured.

One of the fatalities was a member of the PNP Special Action Force.

"We join the entire Filipino nation in strong condemnation of this senseless act of terror for whatever motive its perpetrators may have  even during this time of pandemic", Gamboa said.

"While we express our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family of the deceased and sympathy to the wounded, we assure them of our keen resolve and commitment to bring to justice those responsible for this vicious attack", he added.

Other wounded police and military personnel and civilians are now undergoing treatment at nearby hospitals in Sulu.

The PNP called the help of the public to provide any information to the authorities in identifying the suspects. Ella Dionisio/DMS
