PNP vows justice to family of ex-mayor slain inside hospital

The Philippine National Police ( PNP) on Thursday vowed justice to former Medellin Cebu Mayor Ricardo Ramirez who was shot dead inside a hospital.
In a statement, Police Colonel Bernard Banac, PNP spokesperson, said this is case being investigated.
Banac said PNP regional office under Police Brigadier General Debold Sinas has directed the Medellin Municipal Police Station assisted by the Cebu provincial office to conduct the investigation.
“We urge the public to exercise restraint and refrain from giving speculations. Let us allow the investigation to take its due course,” he said.
The PNP assured the public the peace and order situation in Cebu is under control and their forces in the area remain vigilant to prevent crimes.
Last June 18, Ramirez was killed after around 15 armed men stormed as private hospital where he was under hospital arrest in Medellin.
The armed men disarmed the security guards, confiscated the hospital personnel's' mobile phones and threatened staffers who were at the lobby and emergency room.
Authorities had discovered drug paraphernalia inside Ramirez's house through a search warrant for illegal possession for firearms. He appealed to be put under hospital arrest due to alleged illnesses in 2017. Ella Dionisio/DMS
