PNP warns Kadamay members can be arrested for trespassing
June 14, 2018
Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Oscar Albayalde warns police can arrest members of a militant group for illegally occupying homes for uniformed personnel in Rizal.
“They can be arrested for that, whether there is an order or not. If we really see that they will just enter the property or house owned by others, that's trespassing, violation of the law. They can be arrested because of that,” he said in an interview Thursday.
“The AFP and police have already paid a down payment for other units and it is not good that they will just occupy,” he added.
Just last Wednesday, hundreds of militant urban poor group Kadamay members reportedly stormed the housing project in Rodriguez, Rizal.
The militant group members tried to occupy the houses in the area but they were unsuccessful.
It can be recalled that last year, members of Kadamay also occupied government housing units for police and military personnel in Pandi, Bulacan.
Following their occupation, President Rodrigo Duterte asked the soldiers and police to give up their houses in Bulacan to Kadamay members and promised to build bigger and better houses for the uniformed personnel whose houses were occupied by the militant group members. Robina Asido/DMS
