PNP warns netizens to delete old photo of Gamboa to show he violated quarantine or face raps
August 18, 2020
The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Tuesday warned those who shared an old photo of a private event where Police General Archie Gamboa is present to take down their posts or face possible criminal charges.
“The PNP warns the public and purveyors of fake news from sharing such photos as there are other private individuals in the picture whose right to privacy may have been violated,” Police Brigadier General Bernard Banac, PNP spokesperson, said in a statement.
Banac said the PNP strongly denounced the posting of photos that were taken at a private event in Makati City last February 2020.
“We urge all persons who posted, shared and forwarded these images in social media to immediately take these fake news down or face possible criminal charges under Republic Act 10175, or the Anti-Cybercrime Law,” he said.
In a now deleted post, a news agency said the photo they shared came from the party of Gamboa in Baguio City over the weekend.
Gamboa denied hosting a party in Baguio City. He said it was only a simple dinner and health protocols were properly observed. Ella Dionisio/DMS
