PNP welcomes appointment of new PDEA head
May 28, 2020
The chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Wednesday welcomed the appointment of Wilkins Villanueva as new director general of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
“As a seasoned anti-narcotics operative honed by long years of service in the PNP, his command of the country's premiere anti-illegal drugs agency will result in better inter-operability of PNP and PDEA in implementing the Philippine Anti-Drugs Strategy,” said Police General Archie Francisco Gamboa in a statement.
Gamboa said Villanueva's appointment and reinforced partnership gives the PNP more energy to pursue our own strategic initiatives against illegal drugs.
Villanueva was appointed by President Rodrigo Duterte last Tuesday while former PDEA chief Aaron Aquino was appointed as member of the board of directors of the Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC). Ella Dionisio/DMS
